Storyline:
In 1975, San Fernando Valley teen Joan Larkin reinvents herself as Joan Jett, a guitarist who wants to form an all-girl punk band. She pitches the idea to a sleazy manager, Kim Fowley, who pairs her with a drummer and then searches for a face: he finds Cherie Currie, at 15 the perfect jailbait image for his purpose; by luck, she can sing. Two others round out the band, "The Runaways." Fowley books a tour, signs them to Mercury Records, and packs them off to crowds in Japan. Seeds of conflict sprout early: Fowley puts Cherie front and center in the publicity, she's soon strung out on pills and vodka, and jealousies arise. Without adult supervision, where can Joan and Cherie end up?

The Runaways promises to be the best of the best! I am so excited I can't wait to see it! Can't wait until it releases in AZ!!!! This movie not only has a great story behind it but it also has great performances including Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. Don't judge a book by its cover, go out to the movies today and watch for yourself this great film!

This movie was amazing from start to finish. I was SHOCKED at how great of acting Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning did. The movie kept me intrigued from start to finish. I thought it was going to have really one-dimensional characters and plot line, but I was wrong. The characters were really developed. It was funny and dramatic.
I loved it, and I will probably see it again.
Trust me, it's worth it. And leave all of your preconceived notions about Kristen Stewart at the door....she's more talented than you think. Great performances all around!
Recommended for: anyone over 18. It has some raunchy parts.....no teenagers, no children, no one too conservative.

First off, I saw the Runaways in San Francisco back at the Old Waldorf in 1976. I still remember "I love playin' with fire"!
Per this film, it's more a curio than must see! Plenty of holes including barely giving Lita Ford the pub she deserved. Ummmm....she went on to a pretty good career playing with some of rocks heaviest hitters. She barely mentioned here. Stewart steals the show playing Joan Jett. She's the best part of the movie along with Producer Kim Fowley. Don't think Fanning was really ready to play Currie. Movie is very dull in the middle. Music is good, film slow.
